Update: July 17, 2020 (2AM ET): More details of Samsung’s mystery fitness wearable, possibly a new Galaxy Fit smart band, have emerged via Bluetooth SIG certification. The listing, spotted by MySmartPrice, doesn’t reveal much about the device except for the presence of Bluetooth 5.1.

Judging by label diagrams (see original article below), we know the band may likely feature a Pogo pin charging system. Its physical appearance will likely resemble previous Galaxy Fit and Fit e models which Samsung launched in 2019.

Notably, both models in the current Galaxy Fit line carry different model numbers (SM-R370/5) compared to this band (SM-R220). So it’s possible that Samsung could either reposition its Fit line or create an entirely different series of affordable wearable products.

Original article: July 10, 2020 (4:43AM ET): Samsung could be working on a new version of the Galaxy Fit smart band. We’ve spotted an FCC listing of a Samsung wearable with model number SM-R220 and from what we’ve read in the testing documents, it appears to be a cheap Samsung fitness tracker.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Fit e last year with model number SM-R375, which is similar to the model number of this new device. The FCC listing also shows a label diagram of the unnamed Samsung wearable and it has the same elongated oval shape as the previous Galaxy Fit models.

Testing documents show that the wearable has a 154mAh battery. In comparison, the Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Fit e featured 120mAh and 70mAh batteries, respectively.

The new wearable also seems to use a pogo pin charger like the Galaxy Fit e, indicating that it’s a cheaper model. In contrast, the Galaxy Fit featured NFC charging.

The device is listed with Bluetooth Low Energy support, which is a common standard most fitness bands use these days.

That’s all we know about this mysterious new Samsung wearable. Unfortunately, there are no product images in the FCC documents to show what it looks like, but you can expect a design similar to the Galaxy Fit e.

Samsung’s Galaxy Fit trackers are aimed at those who would rather not buy an expensive smartwatch. Last year, they launched alongside the Galaxy Watch Active so maybe Samsung is planning to reveal new ones alongside the upcoming Galaxy Watch 3. However, this is just speculation on our part and we haven’t heard anything about new fitness bands in any of the recent Samsung-related leaks.

We’ll update this article as and when we know more about this Samsung wearable.
