Samsung is killing a smart TV hub that just got a major Google Photos upgrade
Oct 21, 2026 — 5:14 AM ET

- Samsung is discontinuing its Daily Plus smart TV hub after October 30, 2026, according to a notice spotted by Android Authority.
- The shutdown comes after Samsung integrated Google Photos into Daily Plus, raising questions about what happens to the Memories experience.
- Apps previously available through Daily Plus will remain accessible through the TV’s Apps service, although some hub-specific features may be affected.
Samsung recently made Google Photos a bigger part of its smart TV experience, integrating the service into its Daily Plus hub so users could revisit their favorite memories right from their TVs. It was another step toward making Samsung TVs useful for more than just streaming movies and shows. But just as that integration is finding its feet, Samsung is preparing to shut down the very hub that houses it.
We spotted an end-of-service announcement on a recently purchased Samsung UHD Smart TV (2026) running the latest One UI Tizen firmware.
Thank you for using the Samsung Daily+ service. Unfortunately, the Daily+ service will be terminated after 30/10/2026. The apps that were available on Daily+ can be downloaded and used through the Apps service.
The notice, available in the Daily Plus section, confirms the service will end after October 30, 2026. Samsung hasn’t explained why it’s shutting down the hub.

Introduced at CES 2024, Samsung Daily Plus was supposed to make the TV a central hub for everyday activities, from workouts and video calls to smart home controls. Less than three years later, Samsung is preparing to pull the plug. Fortunately, this doesn’t mean losing access to everything Samsung Daily Plus offers. The company says you can still download and access the apps previously available through the hub via the TV’s Apps service.
However, that’s not quite the same experience. Regular Daily Plus users will lose the convenience of accessing their favorite services from one place, along with the hub’s personalized recommendations and discovery features. Having to navigate between individual apps could make everyday tasks less seamless.
Another question concerns Google Photos integration, which rolled out to eligible 2026 Samsung TVs earlier this year. The integration includes a Daily Plus row for automatically refreshed memories and a dedicated launcher experience. It’s unclear how those features will work once the hub disappears.
According to Samsung’s official documentation, Daily Plus supports select 2024 and newer TVs, compatible Smart Monitors and projectors, and eligible 2023 TVs with an OS upgrade. Availability varies by model and region, so TVs without Daily Plus shouldn’t be affected.
We’ve contacted Samsung for clarification on the shutdown and what happens to hub-specific features. We’ll keep you updated when we learn more.
