Deal: Get Amazon's refurbished Fire tablets for as low as $35

As far as affordable Android tablets go, Amazon’s Fire tablets have been safe bets for over five years. That continues to be the case with the Fire 7 and Fire HD 8, Amazon’s most affordable tablets that currently go for even lower prices if you opt for their refurbished versions.

From now until who knows when, you can pick up a refurbished Fire 7 tablet for $35. As a refresher, the tablet features a 7-inch display with 1,024 x 600 resolution, a rear camera, 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, 1GB of RAM, 8 hours of battery life, and 8GB of expandable storage.

If you want something a bit bigger and more capable, you can also pick up a refurbished Fire HD 8. The tablet features an 8-inch display with 1,280 x 800 resolution, 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, 1.5GB of RAM, either 16GB or 32GB of expandable storage, and a 4,750mAh battery that should deliver up to 12 hours of battery life.

The 16GB version of the refurbished Fire HD 8 goes for $50, while the 32GB version costs $75.

Keep in mind that the Fire 7 and Fire HD 8 come with a 90-day warranty, even though they are refurbished. Also, Amazon directly sells the refurbished versions, so no third-party shenanigans here.

Finally, Android purists might want to stay far away. Not only do the Fire 7 and Fire HD 8 come with Amazon’s software skin, but that skin lays on top of the now-ancient Android Lollipop. Fire OS 6, which is based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat, is only available for the third-generation Fire TV.

Even with a heavy skin on an older version of Android, Fire tablets are still good choices. Not only do the tablets tap into virtually every corner of Amazon’s sprawling ecosystem, but they do so at the fraction of the price of an iPad or the Galaxy Tab S3.
