TL;DR
  • A new report suggests OnePlus’ unified OS is facing delays.
  • As a result, the OnePlus 10 Pro may instead launch globally with Oxygen OS 12.
  • The OnePlus 10 Pro will reportedly arrive in international markets in March.

There’s been plenty of talk of OnePlus‘ future integrated, unified OS, especially now that the company’s fully merged with OPPO. However, it now seems that we may have to wait a little longer for the skin’s arrival.

According to a new report from tipster Yogesh Brar and 91Mobiles, the unified OS is “delayed” and won’t debut on the global OnePlus 10 Pro. Instead, the phone is tipped to continue running Oxygen OS 12. This means that those interested in buying the device in the US, Europe, India, and other international markets might get the more familiar skin, at least initially.

Notably, it’s worth mentioning that “delayed” doesn’t mean canceled. If this report indeed holds water, we can expect global OnePlus 10 Pro devices to gain an after-launch update to the new skin once it’s available.

Despite the OnePlus 10 Pro’s massive design changes, the phone’s software experience could be among its more contentious features. Readers have previously mentioned that they’d buy an OPPO flagship with Oxygen OS rather than a OnePlus device with Color OS. That alone highlights how integral Oxygen OS is in the OnePlus experience.

Despite the impending jump to the unified OS, OnePlus hasn’t shied away from its update commitments. The company promises three major Android upgrades and four years of updates. That said, the company’s software support has been anything but regular and reliable of late.
