OnePlus Nord CE 2 now has a leaked launch date

We're confused why it isn't a OnePlus Nord 2 CE, but that's OK.

TL;DR
  • A frequent leaker just posted info on the OnePlus Nord CE 2 release date.
  • The leaked info suggests a February 11 launch.
  • It would seem more likely for it to be a Nord 2 CE, but we’re going with the leaked info for now.

OnePlus recently took the wraps off its current flagship phone, the OnePlus 10 Pro. Although the majority of smartphone buyers can’t get it yet, it looks like another phone is coming soon that could be more readily accessible.

According to frequent leaker Max Jambor, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 could be on the way. Jambor says the phone could launch on February 11, 2022. That’s only a few days after we expect to see the Galaxy S22 series launch if the rumors pan out.

Jambor didn’t have anything to add about the Nord CE 2 as far as specs and design go. His tweet suggests the camera module could borrow heavily from the OnePlus 9 series, which would make sense.

This would be a follow-up to last year’s OnePlus Nord CE (the “CE” stands for “Core Edition”). The Nord CE used the original OnePlus Nord as a starting point and cut away some features and specs to lower the price a bit. Theoretically, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 would do the same thing using the OnePlus Nord 2 as a base.

Interestingly, Jambor doesn’t think the phone would be called the OnePlus Nord 2 CE. That would certainly make more sense, but we’re going to go with what Jambor says for now. Don’t be surprised, though, if the phone lands with the more logical title.
