TL;DR
  • The OnePlus 11 was put through JerryRigEverything’s durability test.
  • The phone’s fingerprint sensor become inoperable with deep scratches,
  • The glass back of the phone also shattered entirely during the bend test.

The last few OnePlus phones haven’t fared so well in Zack Nelson’s JerryRigEverything durability tests. The OnePlus 10 Pro infamously broke into half in the YouTuber’s hands during a bend test. The OnePlus 10T suffered the same fate. Now, Nelson’s back with a OnePlus 11 stress test, and let’s just say, a good case is definitely recommended for the new flagship.

All starts off well in the OnePlus 11’s durability test. Nelson praises the phone for its design and quite liked its circular camera housing. The device fared decently well in the screen scratch test. The Gorilla Glass Victus indeed makes it hard to scratch the display of the phone, unless you take a knife to it like Nelson. That said, deeper grooves made the in-display fingerprint sensor entirely unusable. The YouTuber notes this isn’t normal, and that fingerprint sensors like these usually survive such scratches.

Meanwhile, the display also survives being burnt with a lighter and shows no damage to the pixels after almost a minute under the torch.

Where the OnePlus 11 gives way is the bend test. The back glass panel cracks all over the place as the bend test starts. With the second bend, the bottom edge glass cracks into tiny pieces.

The rest of the glass back is easily broken with just a touch. However, the good news is that the OnePlus 11 didn’t break into half like its predecessors. Even after all this torture, the phone was fully functional. So kudos to OnePlus for improving the durability of its flagship this time around.
