Samsung Galaxy S26 owners in North America won’t have to wait much longer for their Android 17 update. Earlier today, the stable One UI 9 release was spotted rolling out in South Korea after months of beta testing. Now Samsung is making the rollout official and starting to get specific about its international expansion.

Samsung’s global announcement says the official One UI 9 rollout begins today, September 16, starting with the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra. Regional announcements show that this is no longer just a Korea-only release. Samsung has confirmed availability from today in parts of Europe, Africa, Asia, South America, and several Middle Eastern markets, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan, and Kuwait.

Not every market is on the same schedule, though. Samsung Canada, for instance, says its rollout starts September 21, while Singapore is also scheduled for the same date. Australia is further behind, with Samsung saying its rollout will begin at the end of September.

That leaves the US as the big question mark. Samsung US has yet to announce the details of its own One UI 9 rollout, so there’s no official US release date yet. Still, with Canada getting the update on September 21, US Galaxy S26 owners may not be far behind. Carrier models could also follow their own schedules.

One UI 9 introduces several features that debuted on Samsung’s latest foldables to the Galaxy S26 series. My FanCam can automatically keep a selected person centered in recorded video, while Now Brief gains generative and editable cards. Settings also adds a new Warranty and Care section, plus more contextual suggestions through Now Nudge, an improved Interpreter with Thread View, better document scanning, and new security and privacy alerts.

As usual with Samsung software releases, availability will vary by region, model, and carrier. But you can treat September 21 as a confirmed Canadian date — and a useful clue for the US — rather than a blanket North American deadline.
