Samsung is expanding One UI 9 with Android 17 to the oldest qualifying flagships
Oct 14, 2026 — 4:56 AM ET

- Stable One UI 9 has arrived for the Galaxy S23 series phones.
- The update is currently limited to users previously beta-testing One UI 9 on their Galaxy S23 in South Korea.
- Based on the rollout for other devices, the stable One UI 9 update for all users across different regions should be here in a week or two.
Samsung started rolling out stable One UI 9, based on Android 17, in late September. Over the past three or so weeks, several of Samsung’s older flagships — and even the latest Galaxy A series phone — have received the update. And now, it’s coming to even older devices.
Based on a post in Samsung’s Community forums (via tipster Tarun Vats on X), One UI 9 has seemingly started to roll out for Galaxy S23 users, just a couple of days after the Galaxy S24 series got its update in the US. The release is not available to all, but is currently limited to a smaller section of users who were previously beta testing One UI 9 on their Galaxy S23 devices. Furthermore, the release is currently limited to South Korea, Samsung’s home country.

Based on previous releases, this should mean that Galaxy S23 users in other parts of the world receive the update in the coming week or two. Meanwhile, the release notes for the Galaxy S23’s Korean variant haven’t been updated, so it’s hard to tell whether the phones get the full package of new AI features in One UI 9 or just a visual upgrade over One UI 8.5.
With this, One UI 9 is hitting the oldest of the flagship Samsung phones slated to receive One UI 9. We’re keeping track of all the other devices, including mid-range and low-end devices, and will share updates as the update progresses further. Meanwhile, if you’re a Galaxy S23 user, watch out for the update to arrive on your phone over the course of the week.
