November 2021 Android security patch now available for Pixel 3a and later
The November 2021 Android security patch is now available for compatible Google Pixel smartphones. This month, the list changes a bit. The Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro have been added, while the Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL have reached end-of-life status.
The over-the-air update should roll out soon for compatible devices, including the Pixel 6 series, Pixel 5a, Pixel 5, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4 series, and Pixel 3a series. If you don’t want to wait to receive an OTA, you can download and install the proper factory image or OTA file from the links below.
The announcement post on the Pixel Community forums describes the update in detail, including bug fixes and performance improvements for all compatible devices. Most Pixels are receiving audio, Bluetooth, stability, and System UI improvements this time around, though there’s no word on major features being added with this update. Of course, this is also the first public update after Android 12 rolled out a few weeks ago, so you’ll want to install this update if you’ve been experiencing any oddities with Android 12.
Notably, Pixel 6 Pro owners will need to wait one more month for Google to fix that weird display flickering problem.
The November Android security update also patched a number of security vulnerabilities, which you can see in the latest Pixel Update Bulletin.
