Poll: Is the Nothing Phone 1 hot or not?

After months of hyping up expectations, Carl Pei’s Nothing has finally launched the Nothing Phone 1. The meat of the matter is that it’s a mid-range phone with some fancy, yet useful tricks up its sleeve.

It’s the only phone in the market with an advanced visual notification system at the back. Nothing calls it the Glyph, and apart from its alert functions, it also acts as a key light for the cameras. How well does it work? We’ll be testing that out in our review.

The software is Nothing OS based on Android 12. The company promises zero bloatware, “just pure speed and a smooth user experience.” Once again, that’s something we’ll comment on once we’ve used the phone for a while.

Under the hood, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G Plus chipset runs the show. There’s a 50 MP dual-camera system at the back, a 16MP selfie shooter, a 6.55-inch 120Hz AMOLED display with an in-display fingerprint sensor, 8 or 12GB RAM, 128 or 256GB storage, a 4,500mAh battery with 33W wired fast charging and 15W wireless charging. The device is also IP53-rated for protection against water spray and dust.

The package starts at £399 (~$472), just undercutting phones like the Google Pixel 6a. Of course, the Phone 1 won’t be available in the US, at least for now. It will be sold in over 40 countries, including the United Kingdom, Europe, India, Japan, and more.
