TL;DR
  • The Nokia 8 has had its price slashed to Rs. 28,999 in India, while the Nokia 5 (with 3 GB of RAM) now costs Rs. 12,499.
  • The new prices are live on Amazon and Flipkart, as well as offline channels.
  • The price reductions arrive just ahead of MWC 2018 at the end of February, where HMD Global is expected to introduce new devices.

The Nokia 8 and Nokia 5 have received price cuts in India. Both handsets are part of HMD Global’s first wave of Android phones and have been presented with what appears to be permanent discounts before second generation devices land this year.

The Nokia 8 first went on sale last September starting at Rs. 36,999 but has now been dropped to Rs. 28,999 on Amazon. The 64 GB device features a Snapdragon 835 chip, QHD display, and is available in Polished Blue, Tempered Blue and Steel colors.

Here’s why I think Nokia 8 is the top choice for a mid-range flagship smartphone

Meanwhile, the Nokia 5 with 3 GB of RAM (launched last November) started at Rs. 13,499 but has had Rs. 1000 knocked off its price tag on Flipkart. According to Fone Arena, offline retailers are also selling it for as little as Rs. 11,299 currently, while Amazon has one unit in stock at Rs. 11,999.

These are particularly good deals considering neither device is very old. However, Nokia is expected to launch more phones at MWC 2018 at the end of this month, so bear that in mind if you’re thinking about picking one up.
