HP kicked off the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic with a list of new Chromebooks for office workers. Then, it followed up with solid options for teachers and students alike. No matter your needs, there’s a good chance you can now find an HP Chromebook to meet your needs. Here are our picks for the best new options you can buy.

A few of these picks fall into the productivity category, while others are ready for remote learning. Quite a few of these options are still in the pre-order phase, so be sure to double-check before you order.
The best new HP Chromebooks:
HP Pro c640
Our first productivity pick is the HP Pro c640 Chromebook. For starters, it’s one of the most customizable options on this list. You can choose between 4GB and 16GB of RAM as well as up to 128GB of storage space. No matter which way you go, you’re looking at Intel’s 10th-generation Core i3-10110U processor.
The Pro c640 also includes a 14-inch display with touch and non-touch options as well as HD or Full HD resolutions. HP’s business-ready Chromebook is packed with ports so you can maximize your productivity. It pairs two USB-C options with two USB-A ports, or you can always go wireless. This Chromebook comes with Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 6 built right in.
Chromebook x360 11 G3
If you prefer a smaller machine, HP’s 11-inch Chromebooks offer peak portability. It carries an Intel Celeron N4020 chip along with 4GB of RAM and a 32GB SSD. Best of all, you get a handy stylus to make the most of your portable touchscreen display.
This is one of HP’s new Chromebooks that’s currently available as a pre-order. You won’t get your 11-inch laptop right away, but it’s great to have the flexibility of tent mode and tablet mode right at your fingertips. HP’s 11-inch x360 offers similar ports to the c640, so you should have no shortage of peripherals.
Chromebook 11 G8
This 11-inch Chromebook matches the x360 in terms of design, but you won’t want to flip it into tablet mode. It offers a more traditional clamshell experience, which means no touchscreen and no included stylus for you to work with.
However, you do get 8GB of RAM and 32GB of SSD storage space, which is plenty for most HP Chromebooks. Once again, this model is still available as a pre-order, and it comes with all of the USB ports you could ask for. HP stuck with the Intel Celeron N4020 CPU to keep you moving and paired it with an integrated Intel UHD 600 GPU.
HP Elite c1030
The HP Elite c1030 is by far the most powerful Chromebook on this list, and you might not even recognize it as a Chrome OS machine at first. It comes with a brushed metal finish, and you can choose from Intel’s 10th-generation Core i3, i5, or i7 chips. You’ll get a touchscreen with each version, and 4G LTE connectivity is even an option.

HP’s touchscreen is a solid indicator that the c1030 is ready for tent and tablet modes, and it has the slimmest bezels around. You can pretty much stay locked into the 13.5-inch display. However, the slim design does come at the cost of one of your USB-A ports, but at least you still have Wi-Fi 6 to keep things humming along.
Chromebook 11MK G9
We’re back to small 11-inch Chromebooks now, but we’ve left Intel behind. This version of HP’s smallest laptop comes with the MediaTek MT8183 onboard, thus the MK in its name. On the bright side, that means you can achieve up to 16 hours of battery life. Unfortunately, it comes at the cost of swapping Wi-Fi 6 for Wi-Fi 5.
Outside of those key changes, the Chromebook 11MK is very similar to HP’s other offerings. You’ll have 4GB of RAM and a 32GB SSD to work with. There’s no touchscreen to be had and you’re limited to a clamshell design. Overall though, the Chromebook 11MK G9 is one of the most affordable options you’ll find.
Chromebook x360 14
We’ll wrap up our best new HP Chromebooks with one more large screen option. This 14-inch 2-in-1 comes with a familiar Intel Celeron N4020 onboard as well as 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. It’s not the most powerful machine around though, as it only offers Wi-Fi 5 out of the box.
HP’s 14-inch x360 offers three-sided slim bezels and a handy touchscreen for your enjoyment. You’ll get a pair of USB-C ports, though there’s only one USB-A option to be had, so plan your peripherals carefully.
