My Emoji could be the next Samsung Galaxy S9 feature to come to older devices

- A Reddit user with an Exynos Galaxy Note 8 and the August update claims that it works on their phone.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 could be about to get the My Emoji feature that first debuted on the Samsung Galaxy S9. Over the weekend, a Reddit user noticed that the My Emoji Maker app was available for the Galaxy Note 8 on Samsung’s Galaxy Apps store.
However, once installed, it is currently impossible to open the app for most users. The description on Galaxy Apps also makes it clear that the app is for use with the My Emoji function within the camera. This is something that did not come with the Galaxy Note 8 camera.
There is hope for Galaxy Note 8 users wanting to use the My Emoji feature, though. Shortly after the original post, a different Reddit user with an Exynos Note 8 and the August update with Camera version 7.6.76 claimed that My Emoji is working on their device. They said that the option to “Create My Emoji” can be found by clicking on “Stickers” within the device’s camera app — just like on the Galaxy S9.
The My Emoji feature allows users to turn themselves into animated emojis that they can then share in messages or social media. It is similar to Animoji on the iPhone X, except Samsung’s version does not use special hardware. This means that backwards compatibility with older Samsung devices was always a possibility.
Should My Emoji make its way to the Galaxy Note 8, it would not be the first Galaxy S9 feature to come to the older phone. The ability to set video wallpapers and home screen landscape mode have already made the move to Galaxy S8, S8 Plus, and Note 8 devices.

As mentioned above, the majority of people have not been able to get it to work. However, you may stand a higher chance if you have an Exynos device with the August patch.
