TL;DR
  • The Montblanc Summit 3 smartwatch has officially been announced.
  • It includes Google’s latest Wear OS 3 operating system.
  • Look for the smartwatch to go on sale in mid-July for a very high price.

The  German luxury brand Montblanc has released a number of smartwatches that use Google’s Wear OS operating system in the past. Today, it announced its latest model, the Montblanc Summit 3, and it’s the first such wearable beyond the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic to use the latest Wear OS 3 operating system. Furthermore, we won’t see any Samsung UI or apps on the Montblanc device, which means owners will likely get a pure Wear OS 3 experience.

As reported by Droid Life, the Montblanc Summit 3 will have the Snapdragon Wear 4100 Plus processor inside. It will also reportedly have a bigger battery than the previous Montblanc Summit 2, but exactly how much bigger is not yet clear. The phone will come in Titanium Black, Titanium Blue, and Titanium Grey colors, and each will come with leather and rubber straps.

This smartwatch isn’t being marketed as a fitness wearable, but it will still have support for features like step tracking, sleep monitoring, blood oxygen measurement, and workout tracking. Of course, it will also have a version of the Google Play store to download apps, and Google Pay for real-world purchases.

The Montblanc Summit 3 will be released on July 15. The Verge says the price of the smartwatch in Europe will be €1,250, which is about $1,314. However, the final price for the watch in the US will likely be different.
