Lenovo Googlebook 15 specs leak, and this clearly isn’t your schoolhouse Chromebook

Earlier in May this year, Google introduced its Googlebook laptop category. These are laptops designed from the ground up for Gemini Intelligence, with Google aiming to create a PC experience that offers premium hardware, works seamlessly with Android phones, and puts AI features front and center. Now, a new leak has revealed just how serious that ambition could be. 

There’s no Googlebook out just yet, but we know that multiple companies are actively developing them, with Lenovo among them. We’ve seen renders of its upcoming Lenovo Googlebook 15 in the past, and now a fresh leak appears to reveal nearly everything else about the machine.

The folks over at MacObserver claim to have obtained more high-res product images, alongside Lenovo’s product sheet for the Googlebook 15 that leaves very little to the imagination.

According to the report, the company identifies the Googlebook with the model number GB 15IPH12, with Googlebook OS as its operating system. The device carries Lenovo’s branding on the lid, complete with a Google-colored strip near the hinge. Made of what looks like tiny LEDs, the strip will reportedly offer at-a-glance battery and charging information, alongside being the main design element that immediately sets a Googlebook apart from a regular Windows laptop or a Chromebook.

The lid and the overall chassis are metal, with the device weighing in at 1.29kg/2.84 pounds. That’s just about the same weight as Apple’s latest 13-inch MacBook Air with the M5 chip. That’s notable, especially when you consider what Lenovo is squeezing inside the device.

Lenovo’s Googlebook 15 will reportedly sport a 15.3-inch touchscreen OLED display with a 2,880 x 1,800 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 500 nits of brightness. All of those specs are normally only seen on higher-end laptops, unlike the bulk of the Chromebook landscape.

Within the device’s thin chassis, Lenovo has managed to fit four speakers with Dolby Atmos, a 5MP webcam with dual microphones and a physical privacy shutter, 2x Thunderbolt 4, USB-A, HDMI 2.0, an audio jack, a fingerprint reader, and more, as seen in the images above.

The Thunderbolt 4 ports sit on each side of the device, making charging seamless regardless of which side of the laptop your outlet happens to be on. The audio jack and the USB-A port are reportedly on the left, while the HDMI 2.0 port sits on the right.

Powering all that tech is reportedly an Intel Core Ultra 5 325 processor with integrated graphics, 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5x memory, and a 70Wh battery that, according to Lenovo’s controlled testing, can last 11 hours.

Elsewhere, the internal document also lists an “AI Mouse” as an official Googlebook accessory. We’ve seen the mouse in the past, though apart from it behaving like a normal mouse with an “AI Key” shortcut, we don’t know if it will have any unique features. The report does not offer any price and availability-related information, though the upcoming Googlebook preview event should hopefully offer more clarity once news from it eventually emerges.
