How to hide the start and stop location of a Strava workout

If your run takes off from your home address and you don’t want others to see the location, it is easy to adjust the privacy settings of your Strava workouts. To hide the start or stop point of any activity, follow the steps below.

  • Open the activity you wish to adjust and select the ellipses icon. On the mobile app, this appears in the upper right-hand corner. On the Strava website, it appears on the left-hand side.
  • Tap Edit Map Visibility.
  • Tap Hide Start Point, then use the slider to select what distance you would like hidden.
  • Tap Hide End Point, then use the slider to select what distance you would like hidden.

Alternatively, you can also tap the toggle next to Hide Entire Map to keep the entire workout private.

How to change your privacy settings on Strava

You can also set privacy controls to keep start locations hidden across all Strava workouts. By default, the first and last 200 meters of your activity maps will be hidden once you’ve had a Strava account for at least seven days and have uploaded at least one activity.

  • Open the Strava mobile app and tap the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the Home tab.
  • Tap Privacy Controls.
  • Tap Map Visibility.
  • From there you have three options:
    • Hide the start and end points of activities that happen at a specific address.
      • Tap this option, then enter the address you would like to keep private.
      • Use the slider to select the distance you want hidden from that address.
    • Hide the start and end points of activities no matter where they happen.
      • Tap this option, then use the slider to select the distance you want hidden from the start and end points of every workout. You can select anything between 0 and 1 mile, in one-eighth increments.
    • Hide your activity maps from others completely.
      • Tap this option, then tap the toggle to hide all location data.
