How to get variants in Marvel Snap
Marvel Snap takes a different approach to the mobile card game sphere. Many of these kinds of games give you a major advantage if you spend more money; however, Marvel Snap is entirely playable for free — and paying more offers no competitive advantage. You can spend real money on gold, which you can use to unlock cosmetics called variants. Let’s review what variants are and how to get variants in Marvel Snap.
To get variants in Marvel Snap, you can purchase them with gold from the shop, open them in Collector's Reserves, open them in Season Caches, get them as Season Pass rewards, get them in bundles, and get them as gifts.

What are variants in Marvel Snap?
Variants in Marvel Snap are alternate versions of a base card with different art. They get their name from comic book variants, which contain the same content as the original versions but have different covers.
Variants are entirely cosmetic and offer no competitive advantage. They have the same abilities as their base version counterparts. In fact, if you have variants of cards like Ultron, Doctor Doom, or Mysterio, the cards spawned when played are identical to the base versions.
How to get new variants in Marvel Snap
There are several ways to acquire new variants in Marvel Snap. You can purchase them with gold from the shop, open them in Collector’s Reserves, open them in Season Caches, get them as Season Pass rewards, get them in bundles, and get them as gifts.
Super Rare variants — or those that cost 1200 gold — are exclusively available in the shop. They cannot be found in caches, reserves, or Mystery Variant rewards.
To buy new variants from the shop, go to SHOP > DAILY OFFER. Tap or click the gold button underneath the variant you want to purchase and confirm your selection.
Gold is the premium currency purchasable for real money. Alternatively, you can earn gold from caches, get it from the Season Pass, and even get some as a compensatory gift in your inbox from time to time.
Collector’s Reserves have a 10% chance of yielding a variant. That means, every 12 levels past Collection Level 1006, there’s a 10% chance you will get a variant.
Season Caches have a 10% chance of yielding a variant. With every Season Cache you open, you have a 5% chance of pulling a variant.
Variants are also rewarded along the Season Pass track. Mystery Variant rewards can be any variant in the game of the Rare variety. Rare variants are worth 700 gold in the shop.
At other tiers, like the final tier, you are rewarded exclusive Season Pass variants. These variants are only available from the Season Pass and won’t appear in the shop later on.
Bundle variants are another example of exclusive variants. These variants are only accessible from their respective bundles and cannot be pulled from reserves or purchased in the shop.
Some bundles cost real money and others must be purchased with gold.
From time to time, Second Dinner will send players variants as gifts. These are often rewards for completing event milestones.
