Mark your calendars: A Googlebook 'celebration' is happening next month

On Monday, Google finally revealed when you’ll be able to start pre-ordering its new category of laptops, known as Googlebooks. The company has revealed hardly any information about this new hardware to date. But we won’t have to wait that much longer to finally start getting some details.

According to Engadget, Google has begun sending out invites to an upcoming event called “Opening Night.” The event is scheduled for October 5 and will take place in New York City. The invite reportedly mentions a “celebration” of the devices. The company goes on, stating that the show will feature “interactive showcases and the debut of the first laptop designed for Gemini Intelligence.”

Google has partnered with a handful of manufacturers to create these Googlebooks. This list includes brands like Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. For this first wave of laptops, Google is staying out of the way. However, that doesn’t mean the tech giant won’t make its own Googlebook down the road.

At the event, we should learn more about what these computers can do. Hopefully, we’ll also get a date for when shipping will start. You would think such a show would take place before pre-orders open. However, pre-orders begin on September 21, which is two weeks before the shindig.
