Google details September Wear OS update for Pixel Watch 2, Pixel Watch 3, and Pixel Watch 4

In tandem with the September Pixel Drop, Google is also rolling out its September update for the Pixel Watch 2, Pixel Watch 3, and Pixel Watch 4. This month, the wearables are getting new Gemini personalization features, improvements to raise-to-talk, and several new controls with expanded one-handed gestures.

The Wear OS 7 update is rolling out in phases and will reach eligible Pixel Watch models over the coming weeks. Google says users will get a notification on their watch when the update is available.

The biggest addition is an expansion of one-handed gestures. On the Pixel Watch 3 and newer, you can now double-pinch to open the At a Glance or notification center directly from the watch face.

The same gesture can also be used to scroll through Gemini responses, Wallet cards, and workout metrics, toggle between views in Google Maps, and control the Recorder app.

Google is also adding wrist-turn as a universal back navigation gesture, similar to the Apple Watch.

Elsewhere, the September Pixel Watch update also brings Gemini personalization to Google’s smartwatches. Gemini can now use information from past conversations and connected Google apps, including Gmail, Calendar, Search, YouTube, and Photos, to provide more personalized responses.

For instance, you can ask Gemini what’s on your calendar or have it find a tracking number in your email. Google says the feature combines an offline user profile with real-time online retrieval.

The update also includes improvements to the raise-to-talk feature, along with general bug fixes and other improvements.

The September Wear OS 7 update carries software version CP3A.260905.002 on the Pixel Watch 3 and 4, while the Pixel Watch 2 gets version CP3A.260905.002.E1.
