TL;DR
  • A changelog for the March 2023 feature drop has revealed the major additions.
  • It looks like the update is targeting older Pixel phones.

Google’s Pixel phones enjoy quarterly feature drops, being quarterly updates that bring a host of new and improved features to handsets. We’re still waiting for the March 2023 feature drop to land on Pixel devices, but it looks like a changelog may have revealed more details.

9to5Google and tipster Michael Brown uncovered a changelog for the March feature drop, and the first major feature is faster Night Sight photography for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The outlet notes that this improved night mode, which uses new algorithms, previously debuted on the Pixel 7 series.

Staying with older Pixels, the new feature drop will apparently bring Direct My Call functionality to the Pixel 4a to Pixel 5a. For the uninitiated, Direct My Call gives users a visual menu of an automated phone system’s directory, reducing the need to carefully listen and press a number.

The final Pixel phone addition is that Health Connect is now pre-installed on Google handsets. But we also get a Pixel Watch feature as part of the March feature drop, namely fall detection capabilities.

There’s no word on an updated ETA for this March 2023 feature drop. But we’re guessing it will roll out in the coming week.
