Google Pixel 11 series introduces new 'Extreme Charging Mode'

Google Pixel phones aren’t the fastest-charging phones out there, but the company has made some progress over the years, ensuring its phones aren’t at the bottom of the pack, at least. With the new Pixel 11 series, Google is blessing the phones with a new Extreme Charging Mode.

Google hasn’t shared details yet, but it says you can turn on Extreme Charging Mode to “focus your phone’s performance entirely on powering up.” This way, users can get an “ultra-fast boost” when they need it the most. We’ll be putting all the phones through their paces to figure out what this mode does exactly, and just how much of a difference it would make to the wired charging experience.

Note that the vanilla Pixel 11 has a slightly larger battery than last year, while the Pixel 11 Pro, 11 Pro XL, and 11 Pro Fold see a drop in battery capacity.

The maximum wired charging speeds remain the same across the lineup: the Pixel 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Fold stay at 30W, while the Pixel 11 Pro XL stays at 45W.

With the changes in battery capacity, the charge reached with 30 minutes of charging with Google’s 45W USB-C charger also remains fairly similar: You can get up to 55% charge on the Pixel 11 and 11 Pro, up to 75% on the Pixel 11 Pro XL, and up to 50% on the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. These figures are without the Extreme Charging Mode setting.

All Pixel 11 series phones support 25W Qi2.2 wireless charging, which is a nice upgrade over last year’s models. All phones also continue to feature built-in PixelSnap magnets for easy attachment of wireless charging pads and accessories.
