These Google Photos features are now available to even more users

Google has been developing and testing several new features in Google Photos over the past few months. Some of them, such as AI Wardrobe, were originally rolled out only to users in the US and later expanded to a few other countries, while others, such as the Redact tool in markup, weren’t yet available. Now, Google is finally rolling these out more broadly. In a new blog post, the company announced that several new Google Photos features are now available to users.

Redact pen in markup tools

We first spotted the Redact tool in Google Photos in July, and while we got it working on our test device later, it wasn’t available to users until now. Google has announced that the upgraded markup tool with the redact pen is now rolling out globally on Android phones.

The Redact pen lets users blur sensitive information in photos using three styles: Mosaic, Mosaic Light, and Blur. Users can also adjust the pen thickness to accurately cover areas large and small.

Moods

The “Moods” feature in Google Photos is also available globally on Android devices. With Moods, users can quickly apply vintage-inspired looks to their photos using AI. Several presets are available, including filters that give photos a 2000s cinema aesthetic, a digicam look, a 35mm film style, and more.

Moods originally started rolling out last month. However, the rollout was limited, and the VP of Google Photos had confirmed that it would soon be available more broadly.

Several other features are now available as well. AI Wardrobe in Google Photos is now available to eligible users in the US, India, and Brazil. With Wardrobe, Photos automatically identifies clothing items from your pictures and creates a digital closet that you can use to assemble new outfits, mix and match styles, and more.

The Video Remix feature, which uses Gemini Omni to make AI-powered edits and lighting adjustments to videos, is also available to Android and iOS users in select countries. You can try out these new features in Google Photos today.
