The Google Drive beta program is finally here, letting you try new features first

If you enjoy getting early access to new features in your favorite Google apps, you’ve probably signed up as a beta tester for several of them already. Well, you can join another one now: Google Drive.

Google already has beta programs for several of its apps, letting users access pre-release versions with new features under development. However, the company hasn’t offered a public beta program for the Google Drive app — until now.

We spotted the familiar “Join the beta” card in Google Drive’s Play Store listing. This means users can now easily join (or leave) the Google Drive beta program. Joining the beta could let users experience new Drive features before they are released to the stable version of the app.

Naturally, being a beta tester doesn’t guarantee access to unreleased features. However, most features appear in beta versions of an app before rolling out to everyone. So, if you’ve been itching to try out new Google Drive features before anyone else, this beta program could be just what you need.

Google is almost always tinkering with its apps and services and working on new features, which makes it highly probable that you’ll come across a new feature in the Drive beta sooner rather than later.

You can join the Google Drive beta by simply heading to the Google Drive Play Store listing, scrolling down to the “Join the beta” card, and tapping “Join.” Beta enrollment often takes several minutes. However, once it’s done, you will receive beta versions of the Google Drive app until you leave the program.
