Christmas is only six days away, and you know what that means: it’s time to take your enormous family on an all-expenses-paid trip to Paris and accidentally leave your eight-year-old son behind so he can defend the family home from a pair of inept burglars!

Oh wait, that’s just the plot to “Home Alone,” the highest-grossing Christmas film of all time.

To celebrate “Home Alone” — and promote some Google products — Google somehow coaxed the film’s star Macaulay Culkin to reprise his role as Kevin McCallister for a short film. The minute-long clip, called “Home Alone Again,” depicts a thirty-something Kevin living in his family’s Chicago suburb home. He wakes up and realizes he has the house to himself (of which his Google Home Hub reminds him) and sets about his iconic daily activities from the 1990 blockbuster.

The filmmakers clearly spent a lot of time recreating every minuscule detail of the McCallister home for the film. Other than the fact that Kevin is now far older with a much deeper voice — and the fact that there are Google products everywhere — you’d think you were watching the original “Home Alone.”

To tie in with the video above, Google is now offering “Home Alone”-themed ways for you to interact with your Google Assistant-powered hardware, such as your smartphone or your Google Home smart speaker. Just ask the following questions to your Google Assistant, and be surprised by the results:

  • “Hey Google, how much do I owe you?”
  • “Hey Google, did I forget something?”
  • “Hey Google, it’s me, Snakes. I got the stuff.”
  • “Hey Google, the Wet Bandits are here.”
  • “Hey Google, I’m the man of the house.”

After you’ve had fun with all those, check out the clip below which shows the making of the new short film. It seems that Culkin is having a pretty good time (and dropping some serious dad jokes).
