  • The app will be available on the Garmin Venu 2 Plus to users in the US.
  • With on-the-spot ECG recording capabilities, the app will help users check for signs of atrial fibrillation (aFib).

Garmin is after users’ hearts with a new, clinically-validated ECG app arriving today on the brand’s top smartwatch. The FDA-approved tool aims to help users more closely monitor their health, utilizing existing sensors on the Garmin Venu 2 Plus to record the electric signals produced by users’ hearts.

ECG capabilities aren’t new to consumer wearables; however, approval for these tools is not always easy. The arrival of a validated app to the Garmin ecosystem is a major addition to an already powerful platform. Eligible users can access the app immediately to record on-demand ECG readings right on the wrist. After thirty seconds, the app will display the heart rhythm results.

Most importantly, the app analyzes users’ results for health concerns such as early signs of AFib. If synced with Garmin Connect, the app will also provide users with a history of their ECG App recordings. These can then be shared with medical professionals from the smartphone app.

For now, the Kansas-based company has announced that the ECG App is available to users in the US only. It is also only accessible on the Venu 2 Plus. Going forward, Garmin plans to continue expanding the launch to additional products. Furthermore, the app will be made available to more users as the company meets the necessary regulatory approval in additional regions. Make sure your device is utilizing the latest version of Garmin Connect to access the ECG App on your Venu 2 Plus now.
