TL;DR
  • Samsung is rolling out newer One UI 9 Watch beta builds for Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 7, and Watch Ultra.
  • The update brings October’s security patch along with some bug fixes.
  • There’s no information about a stable release yet.

After releasing stable One UI 9 for the Galaxy S26 series around the end of September, Samsung is now rapidly progressing and making it available to the oldest eligible flagship models. Over the last couple of weeks, the Galaxy S25, S24, S23, and older foldables have received the stable update. So Samsung’s next priority, naturally, is to bring older Galaxy Watch models up to speed with the latest smartwatches it released this July.

For this, Samsung has been running betas for One UI 9 Watch across various Galaxy Watch models. While the stable release is still far off, Samsung is pushing out newer betas to existing testers.

According to posts in the Samsung Community (via SamMobile), Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic, Watch 7, and the first-gen Watch Ultra are getting newer builds of the One UI 9 Watch beta. This is the fifth beta build for the Galaxy Watch 8 and the fourth one for the Watch 7 and Watch Ultra. It arrives just a couple of weeks after the previous beta builds.

The beta updates across different devices carry a firmware build number ending with “ZZJ5.” The update is almost 200MB in size and applies the October 2026 security patch, along with these fixes:

  • Applied stabilization code for device operation
  • Fixed installation errors that occurred upon forced reboot during software updates
  • Fixed Watch Nowbar errors
  • Fixed an error where the charging screen would not switch
  • Fixed an altimeter information display error

There’s no official word on the availability of the next One UI 9 Watch beta for global testers or on the release of the stable build. Global releases typically arrive a week or two after the Korean rollout, so that’s something for users to watch out for. We’re also keeping a tab on these releases and will share once we have the slightest clue.

One UI 9 Watch is based on Google’s latest Wear OS 7 and brings a host of new metrics to the Galaxy Watch, including a Daily cardio load, Vitals tracking for noting any sudden deviations, Trail running coach, and insights about diving and cycling. To unlock these features, both the phone and the Galaxy Watch must be running One UI 9.
