Galaxy Watch 8 series is nearly ready for the big One UI 9 Watch update

Samsung kicked off the One UI 9 Watch beta for the Galaxy Watch 8 series in late August. We’ve seen a couple more betas since then, and now we can report on another, with two of the company’s 2025 smartwatches picking up the fourth One UI 9 Watch beta update in South Korea.

In screenshots shared to X, leaker Kailash0729 reveals that the manufacturer has officially begun rolling out the update (ZZJ1) for the Galaxy Watch 8 and the Watch 8 Classic in the region. This 226.19MB update includes a couple of AOD-related bug fixes and patches an error in the Samsung Health app. It also improves home button shortcuts on both wearables, per the changelog.

Meanwhile, the first-gen Galaxy Watch Ultra is receiving its third One UI 9 Watch beta (ZZJ1) in South Korea, according to another post by the same source. The changelog for this 219.92MB update is virtually identical to the Galaxy Watch 8/Watch 8 Classic update, which isn’t surprising.

Samsung hasn’t revealed when it will bring the stable One UI 9 Watch to its wearables. However, since multiple betas have now landed on the Galaxy Watch 8 series and the Watch Ultra, we suspect the manufacturer isn’t far from rolling it out.

The company is already testing the beta on some older devices, including the Galaxy Watch 5 series. However, One UI 9 Watch betas currently extend only to the Galaxy Watch 6, so owners of the 2022 Galaxy Watch lineup will likely have to wait a bit longer.

While the Galaxy Watch 8 series and Watch Ultra One UI 9 Watch betas are currently limited to South Korea, we suspect the software could reach the US imminently.
