Leaked Fortnite APK suggests Galaxy Tab S4 exclusivity too

Fornite for Android could be a launch exclusive on the Samsung upcoming Galaxy Tab S4, as well as the Galaxy Note 9.

Fortnite Mobile Android.
TL;DR
  • A leaked Fortnite APK file suggests the game will be coming to the Galaxy Tab S4, in addition to the Galaxy Note 9.
  • The Android install file contains references to both the Galaxy Note 9 and Samsung’s newest tablet.
  • Fortnite is expected to be a timed exclusive for Samsung devices before everyone else is allowed to play it.

The Galaxy Note 9 is expected to receive mega-popular video game Fortnite as a timed exclusive, but it might not be the only Samsung device to grab the multiplayer title. According to XDA-Developers, a leaked Fortnite APK contains references to the Galaxy Tab S4 as well.

A dissection of the APK reveals that the game checks for the host device’s brand, codename and features, matching it against the Galaxy Note 9 or Galaxy Tab S4. The game seems to look for the S-Pen stylus as well, the outlet notes, ostensibly to authenticate the host device or to enable more features.

The leaked APK file will only launch the game if your Epic account has been white-listed by Epic, the publication noted. So even if you somehow managed to obtain a Galaxy Note 9 or Galaxy Tab S4 before they go on sale, you most likely won’t be able to play Fortnite until the official launch.

The Galaxy Tab S4 certainly seems powerful enough to run Fortnite though, offering a Snapdragon 835 chipset and 4GB of RAM. The tablet also has Bluetooth accessory support and a DeX mode for a PC-like experience. There’s no word if Bluetooth accessory support means you can use a keyboard and mouse to gain an unfair edge in Fortnite. Then again, the team behind PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds recently updated their game so touch users don’t have to play with keyboard and mouse gamers.

In any event, we’re expecting to hear more news at the Samsung Unpacked event on August 9. The company will reveal the Galaxy Note 9 at the event, and the firm will almost certainly tout Fortnite exclusivity alongside the new phablet.
