Since so many of you are using Facebook Messenger, we figured it would be fun to give you some tips and tricks we know you’ll enjoy. And if you’re not using it yet, you can easily download the Facebook Messenger app for Android or iOS for free.

We will create separate instructions if they aren’t.

Use Facebook Messenger without an account!

You can no longer officially use your phone number instead of a Facebook account for Messenger. Still, there is a workaround for using the popular chat app without getting too tied up with the social network. It requires signing up temporarily, though. Here’s the workaround.

Whether you are at work, in a meeting, or prefer using your computer to chat, Messenger.com is an excellent substitute for the official apps or Facebook page. Head over to Messenger.com to catch up on your convos.

Send audio messages

Audio messages are available for those times when typing a long message is too annoying.

  1. Open the Facebook Messenger app.
  2. Select a conversation.
  3. Find the microphone next to the text box.
  4. Tap and hold the microphone icon while talking. Let go when finished.
  5. You can also tap on the microphone without holding it. The microphone will activate, and you can talk your feelings out. When you’re done, tap on the Send button. You can also tap on the trash icon to cancel the voice message.

Use bubbles (chat heads) to talk to people while using any app

Bubbles (previously known as Chat Heads) are very convenient for multitasking. These create floating bubbles overlaid on top of the UI. They will stay on the screen when doing anything else on your phone, and you can expand the chat head to continue your conversation no matter what you’re doing.

One important factor to note is that chat heads are only available on Android. Sorry, iPhone users!

First, you’ll need to enable bubbles:

  1. Launch the Facebook Messenger app.
  2. Go into the three-line Menu.
  3. Hit Settings.
  4. Under Preferences, tap on Bubbles.
  5. Pick All conversations can bubble. You can also pick Selected conversations can bubble, this way you have more control over this feature.

How to use Bubbles on Facebook Messenger:

  1. Launch Facebook Messenger.
  2. Tap and hold onto any conversation.
  3. Select Show as bubble.
  4. The bubble will appear on your screen. Go do whatever you wish. You can tap on the chat head to open the conversation and continue talking.
  5. To get rid of the chat head, drag it to the X that appears at the bottom of the screen.

Keep things more private with Disappearing Messages

Sometimes conversations can get a bit more private, and if you want to tell someone anything, but would rather leave no evidence behind, you can use Disappearing Messages.
