TL;DR
  • Delta emulator’s v2.0 update turns the iPhone Duo into a dual-screen Nintendo DS setup, placing touch controls on the bottom display and the primary display on top.
  • The milestone update also introduces native Sega Genesis support with cheat codes, save states, and custom controller skins.
  • Delta 2.0 is now available on the App Store worldwide and it also brings RetroAchievements support and a Liquid Glass design.

Customers are finally getting their hands on Apple’s first foldable, the iPhone Duo, starting today. While early reviews of the iPhone Duo complained about the app support situation, more and more developers are updating their apps to support Apple’s new form factor. If you just picked up your iPhone Duo and are wondering how best to use this folding phone, you’d be glad to know that Delta emulator for iOS has received its biggest update yet, headlined by official support for the new foldable.

As announced on Bluesky, Delta 2.0 brings an extensive suite of upgrades alongside iPhone Duo foldable optimization. The release introduces the Liquid Glass design language, integrated RetroAchievements, and native support for the Sega Genesis. The milestone update is available on both the App Store (worldwide) and AltStore PAL (EU).

For mobile emulation fans, the headline feature is easily the tailored experience for Apple’s book-style foldable. Emulating dual-screen handhelds like the Nintendo DS has historically posed an awkward ergonomic compromise on standard glass-slab phones.

We’ve seen this play out on the Android side: as noted in our Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Nintendo DS emulation hands-on, having a physical hinge naturally separate the top gameplay display from the bottom touchscreen and control inputs delivers arguably the closest experience yet to the actual console hardware.

Delta is adopting that exact playbook for the iPhone Duo. Gamers can prop the phone in a half-folded or tabletop position, turning the lower display into a dedicated touch panel and controller and the top half into the primary display, so you don’t need to stack squished aspect ratios onto a single panel or crowd virtual buttons over graphics. You can also use the Apple Pencil as your stylus to get the ultimate Nintendo DS experience.

Beyond foldable support, Delta 2.0 significantly broadens its library by welcoming Sega Genesis support, complete with cheat code functionality, controller skin customization, and save states.

Coupled with native RetroAchievements tracking and a refreshed UI, Delta remains the top emulator on iOS, now supporting NES, SNES, N64, GBC, GBA, DS, and Genesis out of the box.
