TL;DR
  • DroidDeck now offers experimental support for Xbox and PC Game Pass, allowing you to run these games on Android.
  • The app has also gained support for the Itch.io storefront, further expanding the number of PC games you can run on your mobile device.
  • Other improvements include touchscreen gestures, faster performance on Adreno GPUs, and faster loading from microSD cards.

DroidDeck has quickly become one of the most impressive gaming apps on Android. The app lets you locally run PC games on your device, while also offering a SteamOS-like experience. The team behind this app has just released an update that brings major additions and fixes.

DroidDeck v0.6.0 has just been released on GitHub, and it now offers experimental support for Xbox and PC Game Pass. The developers say you can sign in via your Microsoft account to view your owned games as well as Game Pass titles. You can then download and play these games using Proton or FEX, much like your Steam titles.

This isn’t the only gaming storefront coming to DroidDeck, as the team has also implemented Itch.io support. This lets you view your library and browse the store, while DRM-free Windows titles can be installed and played through Steam. Either way, we’re glad to see both platforms are supported via this app, giving it a notable advantage over other PC gaming apps on Android.

This latest update also brings support for touchscreen gestures to games, with per-game settings. This allows you to map taps, double-taps, two-finger gestures, and three-finger gestures to certain buttons or actions (e.g., mouse actions, arrow keys). That’s a welcome change from the standard virtual controller setup.

There’s also good news for performance. Steam’s boot-up time is a little quicker, Adreno GPUs offer frame rate gains, and games load much faster from a microSD card. You can also expect improved battery life while suspended, as your device “really sleeps” now. Furthermore, the app should now play nicely with external monitors (e.g., DeX Mode) when your device’s screen is off.

These features and improvements join a host of other tweaks in recent days. DroidDeck v0.5.0 was launched almost a week ago, bringing SteamVR support on Meta Quest headsets, Cardboard VR support, support for various XR glasses brands (Viture, XREAL, RayNeo), and a storage page.
