  • OpenAI’s new Intelligent UI lets GPT-6 build visual, interactive responses with buttons, charts, forms, diagrams, and task-specific tools.
  • Instead of using one fixed layout, ChatGPT can shape the interface around the question, from interactive bike diagrams to adjustable cooking plans and calculators.
  • GPT-6 is rolling out now to Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users, with Free and Go users following on October 8.

OpenAI has been busy stretching ChatGPT well beyond its roots, and in the past week alone, it introduced shared Spaces for collaborative work and Dots that can keep working across apps even after you leave the conversation. That push is reaching the chat experience itself, with the latest GPT-6 models now capable of building interactive interfaces around your questions instead of simply answering them with text.

OpenAI calls the new capability Intelligent UI, and it lets GPT-6 combine text with graphics, buttons, forms, charts, and interactive tools directly inside a response. Rather than relying on one fixed template, ChatGPT chooses the interface that best fits the question, including when plain text is still the best option.

Some of OpenAI’s demos show just how different that can feel. Ask ChatGPT to break down a seven-speed bicycle, and you get an interactive diagram with buttons for the frame, wheels, drivetrain, brakes, and cockpit.

Planning a Sunday roast produces something closer to a mini app: food images, plus and minus controls for changing the guest count, automatically adjusted shopping quantities, a button to copy the shopping list, and an interactive cooking checklist.

ChatGPT can also build purpose-made tools on demand, including savings calculators, bill splitters, and even playable games. OpenAI says visual explanations can similarly let you manipulate inputs or explore concepts step by step. Underneath it all is a library of native components and a compiler that streams the interface progressively while GPT-6 is still generating it.

Users who prefer simpler answers won’t be forced into this more visual experience either, since ChatGPT can still default to text when that’s the better fit, and users can ask it to show fewer visuals. GPT-6 also starts responding while it continues thinking, and OpenAI says web-search answers begin 44% sooner on average than GPT-5.6 Instant.

GPT-6 with Intelligent UI starts rolling out globally today to Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users, before reaching Free and Go users on October 8. Paid tiers use GPT-6 Sol, while Free and Go get GPT-6 Luna. The change applies to the regular Chat experience; Work and Codex are not changing with this release.
