5 best Bixby remapper apps for the latest Samsung devices

The Bixby button is a subject of controversy. It’s a neat idea and all, but most people don’t like Bixby very much. Samsung introduced a new method to remap the button natively. However, there are still a bunch of neat apps that add even more functionality. Here are the best Bixby remapper apps! They should work on all major Samsung flagships from the Galaxy S8 on forward. Luckily, Samsung doesn’t use Bixby buttons anymore so this list should become irrelevant over time.

Bixbi Button Remapper

Price: Free / Up to $2.99

Bixbi Button Remapper is one of the more popular options for Bixby remapper apps. It does exactly what it says. You can remap the Bixby button to do basically whatever you want. That includes assigning it to Google Assistant, making it open any app, or it can even do stuff like toggle the flashlight. Bixby has a native remap function now, but it still can’t do stuff like toggle the flashlight. The app is free to try and you can get the premium version with a simple in-app purchase.

Button Mapper

Price: Free / Up to $19.99

Button Mapper isn’t a dedicated Bixby remapper app. However, it does support the Bixby button along with all of the other buttons on your phone. You can remap any of them to do basically whatever you want. You can make your volume keys into media playback controls or turn the Bixby button into a Google Assistant shortcut if you want to. It’s a little or miss sometimes, but it worked well for the Bixby button on our tester Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus.

Buttons Remapper

Price: Free / $1.99

Buttons Remapper can remap any button on your device. It works fairly well and it can do a bunch of extra stuff. You can swap buttons, map actions to a long press, and enable a bunch of various commands like flashlight or even map the key to a mobile game. The emulate touch function lets you map a tap to anywhere on the screen and that’s how the gaming function works. It’s something a bit different in this space and it should work for Bixby buttons as well.

Remap Buttons and Gestures

Price: Free / $2.99

Remap Buttons and Gestures is a fairly powerful hardware remap app. It lists the Bixby button among its list of buttons it works for and thus, it belongs here. You can change the button to basically whatever you want, including something like a back button, recent apps button, or even a home button. Bixby and Samsung makes it so the app can’t possibly work perfectly, but it definitely works well enough to alleviate the problem without root access.

Bixby Button Assistant Remapper

Price: Free

This is something a little different. Some folks from over at XDA made a simple app that lets you easily remap the Bixby button to Google Assistant. You simply download and install the app on your phone. From there, use the stock Bixby remap capabilities to set this app as your single press action and you’re all set to go. It’s entirely free, but it does require you to download and install a third party APK from outside of the Play Store.
