Celebrate all the World Cup goals with soccer-themed Galaxy S9 AR Emoji

The 2018 FIFA World Cup is well underway in Russia and to celebrate Samsung is updating its AR Emoji for the Galaxy S9 series with new football/soccer-themed animations.

“AR Emoji Football Edition” lets users create personalized animated emojis similar to those introduced with the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, only this time you can add a national flag for any of the competing countries onto your cheek to support your team.

You can also add cheer motions, as well as backdrops and other animated elements, such as a pitch, thundersticks, and soccer balls, to create custom GIFs that Samsung no doubt hopes you’ll share on social media during each match.

To get started with the new AR Emoji, all you need to do is install the AR Emoji Football Edition app from the Galaxy Apps store (thanks, SamMobile). It’s worth noting that this is a completely new app and not part of the AR Emoji feature found in the Galaxy S9 Camera app.

Once you’ve transformed yourself into a slightly creepy-looking virtual football fan, head to your Gallery and get sharing when the goals start flying in. The app is completely free to download from the Galaxy Apps store via the button below.
