May 2019 security patch now rolling out to Pixel and Essential devices

Google is now rolling out the May 2019 security patch to the original Pixel, Pixel 2, and Pixel 3 smartphones ahead of Google I/O 2019. Unlike the April 2019 security patch, the May 2019 security patch doesn’t include functional updates for the Pixel phones.

That said, let us know in the comments if you see any improvements with anything. Also note that the new patch resolves vulnerabilities that ranged from high to critical.

If you don’t want to wait for the May 2019 security patch to hit your phone, you can download the factory image or OTA file from the links below. From there, you can either flash a fresh build or sideload the OTA update.

True to form, Essential also announced the May 2019 security patch for the Essential Phone. In addition to the patch, the update also includes a Bluetooth fix for audio routing and a stability fix to improve shutdown responsiveness.

The update is now rolling out to the Essential Phone.
