Original article: November 27, 2020 (2 AM ET): There are two new Amazfit smartwatches to choose from today if you’re in China. Wearables maker Huami finally lifted the lid on its Amazfit GTS 2 Mini and introduced the Amazfit Pop Pro for those on a more slender budget.

Let’s start with the GTS 2 Mini.

After last week’s cryptic teasers, the smaller version of the GTS 2 is now available to snag in China. Retailing for 699 yuan (~$106), it’s probably a little pricier than expected, but it seems remarkably polished. The square frame of the GTS 2 Mini employs aluminum alloy with a plastic back. One button juts out from the wearable’s right-hand side. The metal-plastic combo helps keep the weight down below 20 grams without the silicone straps.

The pastel colorways are reminiscent of the Redmi Watch‘s offerings, too. The GTS 2 Mini can be had in Deep Pine Green, Rose Power, and Obsidian Black.

There’s enough space internally for a 220mAh battery. This reportedly gives the watch a seven-day battery figure with heavy usage. This number jumps up to 21 days if used conservatively. Either way, it can be topped up again using the included magnetic charging stand.

Headlining the watch is a 1.55-inch AMOLED screen with a 354 x 306 resolution. This gives it a respectable pixel density of 301 PPI.

As for sensors, the Amazfit GTS 2 Mini packs its fair share. There’s a heart-rate monitor with a SpO2 sensor, while a PAI score is also provided to the wearer. More than 70 sport modes are tracked too, with menstrual cycle tracking and sleep tracking also included in the software offering.

Finally, other nifty features include a built-in Pomodoro clock, onboard music control, NFC support which can be used for buses in China, and Alipay offline payment support. A built-in microphone also lets wearers command the Xiao AI smart assistant from their wrist.

The budget smartwatch has launched in the US and is available to purchase on Amazon for $99.99. In the UK, the GTS 2 Mini can be snagged from Argos for £79 (~$106). Finally, in India, the watch is sold on Amazon starting at Rs 6,999 (~$95).

Global availability of the Amazfit Pop Pro remains a mystery. The revised Amazfit Pop comes in at 399 yuan (~$61) and keeps the green, pink, and black colorways of its sibling. It doesn’t seem remarkably different from the standard Pop on paper, either.

The Pro variant packs a 1.43-inch display with onboard GPS, tracking for more than 60 activities, and also packs PAI score smarts. But the Pop Pro also includes a microphone for chats with Xiao AI.
