100 million people play Supercell games every day

More people play Supercell games every day than live in London, Beijing, Delhi, New York City, Tokyo and Moscow combined.

Say what you want about the free-to-play gaming model, when it comes to interacting with fans, game developer Supercell knows how to do it with class and humor. Today the company released a thank-you video announcing that they have reached 100 million users every day. To put this figure into context, the video makes quite a few comparison. It’s more, for instance, than the number of people in the US who drink coffee every day. It’s more people than the entire combined populations of London, Beijing, Delhi, New York City, Tokyo, Seoul, Rio De Janeiro, Moscow, Dawnbreak City, and Buenos Aires.

That’s a lot of users no matter how you look at it. The 100 million players are scattered across the dev’s four games: Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, Boom Beach, and Hay Day. Clash Royale, which was released just this month, marks the first new game the company has completed in three years. Supercell claims that the reason they are less prolific than other gamemakers is that they are dedicated to providing quality over quantity, citing that they’ve killed 14 games over the course of their run do to them not being good enough to put the Supercell name on them.

“100 million!” said Ilkka Paananen, one of the Finnish company’s co-founders. “It blows my mind to think of that many people playing our games all around the world, every single day. I want to thank every single one of them: from Albania to Zimbabwe and everywhere else in between.”

What are your thoughts regarding Supercell’s super userbase? Are these worthwhile games, or micro-transaction cash grabs? Let us know what you think of Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, Boom Beach, and Hay Day in the comments below.
