One of the biggest Android surprises of the year was the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy Camera, the first Android-powered digital camera by the Korean manufacturer. Save for the inability to make phone calls out of the box, the Galaxy Camera marries the best features of a high-end Android smartphone with and a top-of-the-line point-and-shoot camera.

If you’ve been waiting for the connected camera to come to the UK, you’re just in luck. Samsung has announced that it will be launching the Galaxy Camera this week.

The Samsung Galaxy Camera will be available for purchase at the Samsung Brand Store on November 7, starting from 5pm. The phone and camera hybrid will then hit high street stores and online retailers the following day, a list that includes Carphone Warehouse, Phones4U and Jessops.

Pricing for the Galaxy Camera starts at £399. Although we saw the device wearing pink and orange outfits before, only the black and white variants will be offered.

As a refresher, Samsung’s multi-talented camera packs a 1.4GHz Exynos quad-core processor and a 4.8-inch HD Super Clear Touch display. It also boasts 8GB internal storage, microSDXC support, HDMI, WiFi, 3G/LTE radio, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, 1,650mAh battery, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

As for the camera bits, the Galaxy Camera is equipped with a 16.3MP BSI sensor and a 23mm F/2.8 lens with 21x optical zoom. Like its Galaxy cousins, owners of the camera will get a free 50GB Dropbox cloud storage.

As for folks in the U.S., the Samsung Galaxy Camera has been picked up by AT&T, though the pricing and release date details were left out from the press release – saying only it’ll be out “in the coming weeks”. But this was back in early October. In the meantime, you can always watch our Galaxy Camera hands-on video again.

Are you impressed by the specs of the Samsung Galaxy Camera? Planning to get the Jelly Bean camera when it’s out?
