Samsung Galaxy Note 7 - Next NOTE TV commercial

Samsung Mobile Korea has posted the first official Galaxy Note 7 advertisement. The device will be officially announced on August 2 in New York but we’ve already seen a bevy of leaked specs, features and images. But this is the first time we’ve seen anything official from Samsung and the commercial is quite revealing.

While the ad doesn’t show the device full frontal, we do catch glimpses of it and several of its features are either confirmed or teased. First up, a fingerprint and pattern unlock are shown, but, considering several complex patterns are shown, it seems pretty obvious Samsung is teasing the fabled iris scanner. At least we know you don’t have to go the whole hog with your irises if you don’t want to (and have a backup solution for when it doesn’t work).

It also looks like the Galaxy Note 7 will be the first Note device to be water resistant, as a bunch of underwater telephones seems to indicate. We can’t be sure the Note 7 will have IP68 water-resistance but it makes sense, especially with that giant S Pen cavity to deal with. Let’s just hope you can’t poke it in backwards this year.

There also seems to be a hint that the Note 7 will have a front-facing flash for selfies, as the model lying in bed with an illuminated face while she is obviously taking a selfie with the Note 7 seems to imply. Either that or we can expect a low f-stop for low-light selfies.

There’s also a bit of highlighting going on, so we can only assume that refers to the S Pen’s note taking functionality. Oh, and the ‘6’ in the series is obviously being ditched. Now, can anyone tell me what the road sign is pointing to, cos I’m a little confused?

Are you pumped for the Note 7? What other features are you expecting?
