LeEco's Android-based smart bicycles are coming to the US in Q2 2017

China-based LeEco may be having some financial issues, but that’s not stopping the company from promoting its products at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week. Today, it revealed that its two smart bicycles, which use an Android-based OS, will launch in the US sometime in the second quarter of 2017.

Both the LeEco Smart Road Bike and the LeEco Smart Mountain Bike will have a 4-inch touchscreen device on board that runs BikeOS, a fork of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Inside there will be a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor along with a 6,000mAh lithium-ion battery. The bikes will offer riders turn-by-turn navigation using HERE Maps, along with online and offline music playback, walkie-talkie communication with other nearby LeEco smart bikes, and ride logging. You can also review previous rides and share them with others with the bikes’ companion app.

Both bikes also feature GPS and GLONASS navigation,  along with a compass, accelerometer and barometer. The bikes will give owners ways to measure the light level, wheel speed and crank speed. It can also access third-party ANT+ heart rate and power sensors for people who want to keep track of their fitness goals.

Unfortunately, LeEco declined to reveal how much it would cost to get either one of its smart bicycles today, but we would expect them to be on the expensive side.
