ZTE's foldable Axon M heads to China and Europe
- ZTE announced it will release the Axon M in China and Europe.
- China will get the Axon M this coming Saturday, while Europe gets it by the end of March.

ZTE’s Axon M might not have been the best smartphone of 2017, but it took a welcome risk with smartphone design that we have not seen for a few years. Something that held the phone back was its AT&T exclusivity, though that is set to change with the Axon M heading to China and Europe.
ZTE, which held a ceremony at the Olympic Tower in Beijing, announced that the Axon M will make its way to China this coming Saturday, January 20. You can purchase the phone through China Telecom, as well as ZTE’s and JD’s websites. The phone will then head to Europe sometime before the end of March and will be sold through Vodafone, TIM, and other “leading carriers.”
For the uninitiated, the Axon M sports a 20 MP camera, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 chipset, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of expandable storage, and Android 7.1.2 Nougat sitting below ZTE’s own take on Android. The phone’s headline features are its dual 5.2-inch displays, with the hinge at the middle bringing the two displays together to allow for various functionality modes.
We found the performance and overall experience of the Axon M to be lacking some polish compared to other Android phones. Even with the phone’s problems, ZTE put forward a bold and exciting idea—something that our own Adam Doud put into words much better than I could.
What’s even more exciting: ZTE confirmed it will not give up on the idea and will launch more phones like the Axon M.
