You can now buy the all-ceramic version of Xiaomi's Mi Mix 2, if you live in China

The all-ceramic version of Xiaomi's Mi Mix 2 is more expensive than the standard version, but it's not just because of the materials.

Apart from the Essential Phone, I believe that Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 2 has come closest to nailing the bezel-less aesthetic of recent times. It might not stand apart as much as the original Mi Mix 2, thanks to many more smartphones adopting that bezel-less design, the Mi Mix 2 is still a stunner of a phone.

Now, as spotted by GSMArena, you can get that stunner of a phone in an all-ceramic build.

Before you say anything, we know that the standard Mi Mix 2 already features ceramic on the back. The main difference is that, while the standard version uses an aluminum alloy frame, the Ceramic Black Edition of the Mi Mix 2 is all ceramic.

This gives the phone a look and feel that is rare for smartphones, and because it’s ceramic, it is much harder and less prone to scratches than glass. The use of ceramic also gives the Mi Mix 2 a heft that, in my opinion, is satisfying in the hands. On the flip side, ceramic is very fragile, even when compared to glass, so if you drop the all-ceramic Mi Mix 2, the odds of the exterior cracking are much greater than if the phone used glass.

Xiaomi's next flagship will use the Snapdragon 845

Going back to the positives, the Ceramic Black Mi Mix 2 is the only version of the phone that comes with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Everything else is the same when compared to the standard Mi Mix 2, which means you still get a 5.9-inch Full HD display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset, a 12 MP main camera, and a 5 MP selfie shooter.

The Ceramic Black Mi Mix 2 also runs Xiaomi’s custom MIUI 9 skin on top of Android Nougat, with the 3,400 mAh power pack delivering solid battery life in our review of the standard Mi Mix 2.

So long as you live in China, you can pick up the Ceramic Black Mi Mix 2 for ¥4699, or roughly $702. At the time of this writing, the phone is sold out on Xiaomi’s website, and we do not know if this version of the phone will make it to other regions, so we’ll be sure to let you know if that changes.
