TL;DR
  • The Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max could launch in Europe with smaller batteries than their Chinese counterparts.
  • The Xiaomi 18 Pro is tipped to start at €1,449, while the 18 Pro Max could cost €1,849.
  • The Xiaomi 18 Pro’s rumored starting price is just €50 below last year’s Xiaomi Ultra, putting it dangerously close to Ultra territory.

Xiaomi launched the 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max in China last month, and both phones offer plenty, especially when it comes to battery life. However, if you’ve been waiting for their global debut, there’s some good news and some rather expensive news.

As spotted by YTECHB, listings on the European Product Registry for Energy Labeling (EPREL) reveal that the Xiaomi 18 Pro will feature a 6,000mAh battery, while the larger 18 Pro Max will pack a 7,050mAh unit. Both are smaller than their Chinese counterparts, but they’re still pretty substantial batteries for flagship phones.

The listings also suggest that the Xiaomi 18 Pro could last up to 66 hours and 30 minutes on a charge, while the Pro Max could stretch that to 70 hours and 40 minutes. These are standardized test estimates, but the numbers are certainly promising. Both batteries are also rated to retain 80% of their original capacity after 1,000 charging cycles.

Now comes the part that might make you reconsider upgrading: the price. According to the report, the Xiaomi 18 Pro could start at €1,449 (~$1,627) for the 256GB variant and rise to €1,649 (~$1,851) for 512GB. By contrast, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is tipped to cost €1,849 (~$2,076) for its 512GB configuration.

For perspective, the Xiaomi 18 Pro starts just €50 shy of last year’s Xiaomi Ultra. That’s a big jump for a Pro model, especially since Xiaomi launched the 18 Pro in China at roughly $895. Of course, European and Chinese prices aren’t directly comparable, and rising chipset and memory costs are making flagship phones more expensive across the board. OPPO’s Find X10 series is reportedly facing a similar situation.

Still, there’s a bigger question here. Xiaomi’s enormous batteries could make these phones particularly appealing to anyone tired of charging their flagship halfway through the day. But with the regular Pro potentially creeping into Ultra pricing territory, buyers might understandably expect a little more for their money.

For now, the European prices remain unconfirmed, but if they hold up, Xiaomi will have its work cut out for it in convincing buyers that its latest flagships are worth the premium, especially with so many compelling alternatives already on the market.
