Super Smash Bros Melee now has a PC port, and the Android port isn't far behind
Sep 14, 2026 — 5:34 AM ET

- Super Smash Bros Melee has been unofficially ported to Windows.
- This comes just days after the game was fully decompiled, opening the door to fan ports.
- The developer also offers an Android port of the game, but it’s currently broken.
Super Smash Bros Melee is one of the GameCube’s most popular games, and it was fully decompiled last week. This reverse-engineering process enables unofficial ports of the title to modern platforms. Now, we’ve got some more good news.
Developer 999sian has ported Super Smash Bros Melee to Windows and Linux. The so-called melee-pc project builds on the work of the doldecomp group (which decompiled the game) and uses the Aurora graphics compatibility layer.
Like many ports, the melee-pc project doesn’t ship with the game files due to legal reasons. Instead, you’ll need to provide a US version of the Super Smash Bros Melee disk image (v1.02). Otherwise, this unofficial port offers internal resolution sliders, anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering, an FPS counter, gamepad support with remapping, and several other options.
Interestingly, the developer also lets you download an unofficial Super Smash Bros Melee port for Android. However, they have confirmed that this APK is broken for now. It’s also worth noting that I wasn’t able to get this port running on PC, as clicking the melee.exe file results in a command-line window that quickly disappears.
Nevertheless, this is the initial v0.1.0 beta release, so there’s bound to be a few significant bugs here and there. It’s also worth noting that this developer previously ported The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap to Android and PC, and has delivered a steady stream of updates. We therefore have faith that the Super Smash Bros. Melee ports will receive a similar level of commitment from the developer. It’s worth noting that there’s also another newly released Melee fan port dubbed melee-unlocked. This PC port makes extensive use of AI, though, and there’s no word on the developer’s track record.
