These potato-quality photos might be of the Sony Xperia XZ3’s dual camera

A new leak allegedly of a Sony Xperia XZ3 might give us our first blurry look at the device.

TL;DR
  • New images leaked today that allegedly depict a Sony Xperia XZ3.
  • The device in the images looks identical to an XZ2, albeit with a dual camera setup on the rear.
  • It is also possible that this is a Sony Xperia XZ2 update, such as an XZ2S.

The Sony Xperia XZ2 line only launched a few months ago. However, via Japanese site Sumahoinfo.com, we have some photos of what is allegedly a Sony Xperia XZ3 prototype.

You can scroll down a bit to the images, but there is only one notable change to the design of the alleged XZ3, and that’s the addition of a dual camera setup on the back. The front looks very much like the XZ2, to the point of me not really being able to tell the difference.

However, you should see for yourself:

The photos are very blurry and washed-out, so it’s hard to do too much examining. I imagine the leaker got their hands on an XZ3 prototype and quickly took some shots on their phone before putting it down, which would explain why the photo quality is so poor.

Since the phone looks pretty much identical to the Sony Xperia XZ2 – aside from the dual cameras, obviously – it could be that this is an Xperia XZ2S or something; a slight upgrade of the XZ2, like the OnePlus “T” line. However, Sony isn’t in the habit of doing this too often, so it’s possible that this is a genuine upgrade to a full new version.

Sony Xperia XZ2 review: Making a buzz
Reviews

Sony’s mobile department has had it rough over the past few years when it comes to sales and market saturation, but the brand does have some passionate fans. One of the best things about Sony phones is that the company regularly issues security updates on a timely basis. For example, today, via XperiaBlog.net, the company released the June security patch for the XZ2 line, which is actually kind of late for Sony. Usually, the updates come even earlier in the month.

Regardless, what do you think? Are these images of a Sony Xperia XZ3, or something else? Let us know in the comments!
