Snapchat’s new wearable, Spectacles, went on sale yesterday with a rather unique approach. The $130 glasses, which house wide-angle camera for shooting short videos, were available for purchase via a yellow pop-up vending machine at Venice beach.

The vending machine, known as Snapbot, allowed customers to virtually test the Spectacles before purchasing them via credit card. Customers queued along the beach next to the Snapchat headquarters for the chance to buy the glasses, some of which were reportedly later resold on eBay for as much as $1000.

The location of the next pop-up vending machine will appear on the Spectacles website 24-hours before it appears, but Snapchat hasn’t revealed whether it will sell Spectacles in stores or online at a later date.
