Would you buy a slider phone? (Poll of the Week)
Previous poll summary: Two weeks ago, we asked you which phone you’re most looking forward to in 2019. Out of over 4,500 total votes, 18.8 percent of voters said they’re most excited for the Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL. The OnePlus 7 and 7T came in a close second with 18.1 percent of the votes, while the Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus received 17.7 percent of the votes.
In the neverending quest to get rid of phone bezels, manufacturers need to be as creative as possible to appease consumers. We don’t like notches, many of us don’t like hole-punch cameras, standalone camera mechanisms have yet to catch on, and we doubt the Vivo Nex’s dual-display implementation will catch on. So, what are our options?
Some companies are actually resorting to slider phones to eliminate screen bezel. By moving the selfie camera to the front-facing portion of the slider, that eliminates the necessity to put the camera sensor above, below, or inside the display.
Rumor has it even OnePlus is working on a slider phone, which could turn out to be the OnePlus 7. You can see a purported image of the freshly leaked device here.
Would you buy a slider phone? Or do you think it’s a bad idea to include more moving parts in our smartphones? I’d be too nervous that the phone might break apart if I dropped it, but I want to hear from you. Cast your vote in the poll below and speak up in the comments if there’s something you’d like to add.
