Original article, July 1, 2022 (9:34 AM ET): Security updates are pretty important for Android devices, fixing vulnerabilities that could be exploited by malicious actors. Android phones typically receive updates every month to once per quarter if they are indeed getting them.

So we want to know which Android security patch you’re running on your phone right now. Are you on the latest patch or is your phone running an ancient update? Go ahead and vote in the poll below.

Not sure which Android security patch you’re running on your device? Well, this process can vary slightly, but you can typically find it by visiting the “about phone” section and looking for the “Android security update” field.

For what it’s worth, companies like Samsung are usually pretty quick on the draw, as the July 2022 update has already hit some devices. Samsung and Google also offer up to five years of security patches on some phones. On the other hand, chances are good that you’re no longer receiving security updates if you bought your phone back in 2017 or 2018.
