How to take a screenshot on the iPhone 13

Whether you work for a tech publication like us or your just want to show someone thing unusual on your device, knowing how to take a screenshot is pretty essential. On an iPhone 13, there’s nothing to it. Here’s what to do.

  • Press the side and volume-up buttons simultaneously.
  • Tap the thumbnail that appears to open editing, sharing, and deletion options.

How to take a screenshot on the iPhone 13

To take a screenshot, press the side and volume-up buttons simultaneously, then release. You can see the location of those controls in the graphic below. If you’ve done things right, you’ll hear a camera shutter sound and/or see a flash of light, followed by a thumbnail in the lower-left corner of your screen.

How to crop and share a screenshot on the iPhone 13

Once you have your screenshot, you can tap that thumbnail to access basic editing, sharing, and deletion options. If you swipe the thumbnail away or let it disappear on its own, you can find the image in the Photos app’s Recents or Screenshots collections, both of which are located in the Albums tab.

For Apple’s full editing options, open a screenshot in Photos and tap the Edit button in the top-right corner.

Tap the wand icon to make automatic adjustments. These tweak elements like brightness, contrast, and color balance, and often that’s all that’s needed to improve an image. If you’re familiar with apps like Photoshop or Lightroom, you can use other icons in the same carousel to make manual improvements.

To crop an image, tap the double-helix with the rounded arrows at the bottom of the screen.

Use your fingers to drag the bolded corners of the image border inwards, upwards, and downwards. Save your finished cropping by tapping Done.

To share a screenshot, tap the Share icon in the bottom-left corner. You’ll get options to share via installed apps, or directly to frequent contacts.

How to screenshot a whole webpage on the iPhone 13

If you need a shot of an entire webpage, excluding Safari’s app interface, you can get your iPhone to make a fullscreen image.

Take your screenshot in Safari and tap on the thumbnail preview that appears. At the top of the next screen, tap Full Page.

Your iPhone will capture a copy of the entire page. Use the scrollbar on the right to select which portion to use, then crop and annotate using relevant icons. When you’re finished, tap Done at the top to save the screenshot to Photos.
