TL;DR
  • A rumor suggests that all models of the Galaxy S23 will have a brightness of 1750 nits.
  • This would be a bump up for the base model.

If you liked the Samsung Galaxy S22, but thought the screen could be brighter, you may get your wish in the next generation. A rumor suggests there may be a bump up in peak brightness.

A leaker with a pretty good track record, Roland Quandt, went on Twitter to claim that all three models of the Galaxy S23 would have a peak brightness of 1750 nits. It appears Quandt isn’t fully confident in this prediction, however, as he also made sure to fit in the words “it seems” at the end of his sentence.

Max brightness rating for S23 series is 1750 nits for all three models it seems.

If the rumor is true, that would mean that the base model would jump up in brightness by 250 nits compared to the Galaxy S22’s 1500 nits. However, this wouldn’t be that big of a deal for the Plus or Ultra models as both sported 1750 nits in the current generation.

This new information comes shortly after a retail store in Nicaragua called KM Cell Store leaked images and information about the Galaxy S23 Ultra. From that leak, we learned what the packaging might look like, saw all four colorways, and even got a hands-on video that shows the device may not be all that different from the S22 Ultra.

With so many leaks ahead of its Unpacked event on February 1, there may not be a whole lot of surprises for Samsung to get us excited about.
